5 Ways To Fight Negativity
Sometimes life can be a HUGE struggle…
Work, relationships, time constraints, health problems, fatigue, lack of motivation, and general overwhelm are just a few of the daily realities which may be causing you stress. Sometimes it may seem like nothing is really wrong, but you still feel negative or unhappy.
Being an emotional creature myself, with the added bonus of motherhood hormones and a toddler, I am not at all unfamiliar with these feelings.
So let me share with you some of my go-to methods for getting out of a negative funk!
1 – Talk it out
So simple, yet a very effective way of sorting through your thoughts and replacing them with some positive feedback or a different perspective. Choose someone supportive to speak with, such as a friend or therapist.
2 – Be active
Exercise promotes the release of feel-good chemicals called endorphins in the body. Exercise also gets the blood moving and has a way of making you feel “pumped up”, which can help you to feel energized and in more control of your circumstances.
3 – Think positively
It can be all too easy to resort to negative thinking when things aren’t going well. Maybe your default is to feel like you’re a failure, not good enough, or like you will never be happy. Whatever your limiting beliefs, switch to positive truths such as “I am good enough” and “this too shall pass”.
4 – Nourish your body
Think about it – your body requires the right building blocks for optimal functioning. Nutrition affects brain chemistry, hormone levels, and so much more. So avoid the sugar highs and the empty processed foods, and go for nutrient dense whole foods.
5 – Nourish your spirit
When life sucks, it helps to do things you enjoy (shocking, I know). But seriously, make a point of it. Because if you’re anything like me, feeling down makes you feel like isolating yourself and doing nothing. Instead, get out and have fun, or stay in and do something you love. Find joy. –
