What Type of Eater are You??
Do you “Live to Eat” or “Eat to Live”??
I can remember a time when I was so preoccupied with my diet, that I felt I was living to eat. Nowadays, I still LOVE food, but I feel more like I eat to live.
Let’s take a look at what these mean.
“Eat to Live” refers to a the type of person that eats to sustain their energy and well-being.
“Live to Eat” refers to the type of person who loves to eat so much, that it could justify living.
Note that one is not necessarily better than the other. I know individuals who care very little for food, rarely feel hungry, and as a result can have a difficult time consuming enough nutrients.
On the other hand, loving food to the extent that you crave and want to eat all the time would be difficult and potentially problematic as well.
Ideally, you would want to be somewhere in the middle, and notice any fluctuations from one extreme to the other.
For example, suddenly (or chronically) feeling hungry all the time could have many causes:
1. poor blood sugar control
2. insufficient food intake
3. lack of pleasure in your life
Just to name a few.
Similarly, a drastic (or chronic) loss of appetite could be due to:
1. minimal exercise
2. slowed metabolism
3. depression or illness
I invite you to be a detective in your own food habits and seek to find balance.
If you need any help with that, shoot me an email and let’s schedule a time to talk about it!
